Beverly Adams, a graduate of the Virginia School of Massage, is a certified massage therapist and owner of Blue Ridge Therapeutic Massage. For the past eight years, she and her staff have worked with clients who use massage for stress management and relaxation, and for management of chronic conditions due to disease, injury, and/or trauma.
Beverly has had extensive training in myofascial release and deep tissue therapies but her specialty is neuromuscular work. She studied first with the St. John School of Neuromuscular Therapy, and most recently with Judith Walker-Delany’s School of Neuromuscular Therapy American Version ™. She is certified in Reflexology, has over 150 hours in Polarity Therapy training, and has completed training for medical massage therapy. For the past four years, Beverly has taught massage therapy, specializing in anatomy, kinesiology, and therapeutic techniques at one of the local massage schools.
In addition to her massage therapy practice and training, she has been a student of yoga for the past twenty-five years. She taught for fourteen of those years, emphasizing meditation, Ayurvedic healing, hatha, pranayama, and yogic lifestyles.
She began her canine work almost by accident. As the current owner of three rescues and an animal lover from early childhood, she quickly recognized that massage clients relaxed more when their canine companions were present during their sessions. As a result she maintained a “dog friendly” practice. She soon began working with the dogs as well as their owners. She now has a full time canine and human practice at her office. In addition, she travels throughout the Virginia and North Carolina area working at agility trials. Her canine practice focuses on three main areas: dogs with socialization problems, seniors/special needs, and performance dogs. She combines her love and respect for dogs with her extensive knowledge of anatomy, movement, and understanding of the quality of muscular health to facilitate healing and well-being.
Beverly lives in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA with three dogs, two cats, and Oscar, the bearded dragon.
