We are pleased Dr. Platt agreed to take on the UK EQ1300E Neurology course for the
UK and also all regions of the CN3070: Canine Neurology Courses.
Dr. Platt has been an associate professor of neurology at the
University of
Georgia (
College of
Veterinary Medicine) since 1998 where his major research focus was epilepsy.
He also spent time with the
UK’s Animal Health Trust (AHT) where his research included advancing the diagnosis and surgical and medical treatment of brain tumors. Along with other AHT specialists, he investigated the DNA abnormalities that may be responsible for canine brain tumors.
Dr. Platt graduated from the
University of
Edinburgh in 1992 and worked with small animal medicine for three years in
Canada and the
UK. At the
University of
Florida from 1995–1998 where his major research focus was spinal injury. He is a Diplomate of the
American
College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) and a Diplomate of the
European
College of Veterinary Neurology and is considered one of the leading neurosurgeons.
